First of all, I will state again that having a MLM opportunity that has products or services that are high quality and in-demand is critical. If not, this business will not last and your hopes of securing a downline will be slim to none. It is also companies like these that hurt the integrity of MLM as a whole. Residual income will only be as good as that company that you are promoting. This is why you need to know who you are representing when you join a MLM. Do your homework, and I do not mean a Google search! Listed below are the 3 types you will have in your mlm network marketing downline.

LEVEL of INVOLVEMENT

INVOLVEMENT #1 Just using the product. Encourage everyone that you talk to that it is imperative that they first, use the products and then recruit second. Many downline will go ahead and do both at the same time. Remember, read marketing materials and try products first.

What you are looking for in a downline is someone who is not only attracted to the MLM opportunity, but also has a need for the products or services that they are promoting. That is why “fad” products are not the best choice for long term business.

That is why consumables are one of the best products. Regardless of anybodies financial condition, they are still going to drive to the store and buy toilet paper, light bulbs, shampoo, etc. Getting downline to change their buying habits with a program like this is much easier than some new “fad” product.

INVOLVEMENT #2 The second group you will have in your downline are those who will do just enough to break even on the cost of the products that they are purchasing. You will along the way sponsor someone who has no intentions of building a network. It is important to remember that you want everyone in your entire downline to use the products first and recruit prospects second. You will be successful at selling a product if you your self do not use it or know anything about it. Also, when you use a product and you truly are satisfied with it, it is easy to recommend to someone.

INVOLVEMENT #3 Thinking that you can join a MLM and send out of few mailers or postcards and get rich. This mentality is going to fail you quickly. People you jump from MLM to MLM looking for their make it big opportunity, will never find it. When getting rich is their ONLY goal, then after two or three months if they are not making any money, they will quit and find another program that looks appealing. MLM junkies are the best way to describe this kind of downline.

When someone in your downline sponsors a new leg, call them immediately and congratulate them. Ask them if there is anything you can help with. SERVE your downline. Remember the 80/20 rule. 80% of the work is done by 20% of your downline. Get to know your 20% well and you just might learn something from them!
